face of their mistakes is a goal ASB strives for. This idea of celebrating mistakes is one of the many new
practices to get students into a mindset that will let them be as creative as possible, and to face future
problems with their own unique set of problem solving skills.
Get Everyone Excited - Parent and Community Involvement
ASB builds bridges between school and home by
getting parents and the community more involved and
engaged in their child’s learning. By holding Parent
Maker Sessions they are able to not only see but do
what their children are doing and gain better insight
into their thinking & learning. They are also easily able
to see the value of tinkering by unleashing their own
creative design ideas and trying to bring them to life.
Both parents and children are invited to come and work
together on ideas they’ve generated. Together, they
will struggle with design problems, and work for a
better iteration by creating and sharing feedback with
each other.
Our goal as a school is to prepare our students for a
future that is unclear & uncertain today. We do this by
providing the tools and resources necessary for
students to succeed regardless of their area of interest.
By supporting making and tinkering, we are fostering
independent thinkers, professional amateurs and 21st
century innovative learners.
