The important aspect of exploring new media is the excitement
students have while using it. Take 3D printing for example; about
half the students started off exploring it. However, they quickly
realized that downloading a pattern and printing it is not art. It is
not even a little bit creative. Technology is taking us to a place
where it is not the skills that make the art, it is the message you
want to convey. That’s where the Idea begins: why would it
respond that way, what does it mean, why is that happening?
These questions are where the art happens.
