DESIGNING FOR ENVIRONMENTAL

This year we started a Student R&D Team. The objective of this team is
to study, prototype, and research ideas through various task forces. High
School students can join the task forces. The two task forces we’ve
prototyped this semester are Environmental Sustainability and Maker.
We are members of the Environmental Sustainability Task Force and this
is a story about our journey to make environmental sustainability work.
Our Task Force’s goals were to:
Meet successful social entrepreneurs to understand their
business products and processes
Design solutions for challenges that students witness in their own
Prototype, create and implement relevant solutions
We met outside of formal class time, during times that worked best for
us. These ranged from 30 minute lunch meetings, to 2 hour sessions after
school, or 3 to 6 hour sessions on Saturdays. Our task force had 26 hours
of contact time.
There are six of us in this task force, led by Ms. Galani and Mr. Parashar.
