Pitching to Leadership
We presented our findings to the school leadership - to Mr.
Bishop, Ms. Cynthia and Dr. Luthra. Student R&D: Sustainability
Report - This is the report we wrote to document our findings for
the topic of food waste along with recommendations.
We discussed ways to implement our findings. Decisions taken:
Present composting prototype to Mr. Raj to finalize
space where composting can be done on a regular basis.
Uncover more information about logistical details of this
Implementation will happen next year
We will run a Sustainability Advisory to get student body
Explore vegetable gardening at ASB
We met with Mr. Raj and made a presentation to him. We
discussed logistics of where these composting units can be set up
and the possibility of creating vegetable gardens so that students
can be part of the whole food cycle.
Sustainability Task Force: Into the Future
The implementation will happen next year. This semester we focused on
one specific topic; next year we’ll branch out into other areas of
sustainability. These include, but are not limited to: gardening (vegetable
and vertical), usage of electricity on campus, solar panels on campus,
transportation on campus and between campuses, water usage, and a
formal waste and energy audit conducted to get more information.
Other activities we will explore implementing include a gardening club
and an Intersessions course about Sustainability.
This club would set up gardening beds around campus. These would
include planting vegetables that Sodexo would use in their food. This
group of students, ranging from ES, to MS and HS would also help set up
the composting unit, ensure it runs smoothly, and handle gardening beds.
