STUDENT DATA PROFILES:
VISUALIZING STUDENT SUCCESS IN
THE MIDDLE SCHOOL
ASB’s Mission states that we will empower students with the skills they
need to pursue their dreams and enhance the lives of others.
Furthermore, our Core Values state that all people have the potential for
growth. Student Success Meetings operate in support of our Mission and
Core Values to ensure that ASB students have the opportunity to grow
and learn both academically and social-emotionally.
The Student Data Profiles were introduced this year by the research and
development department, and have become a valuable tool to support
the middle school team. It provides us with a wealth of information on
each student that can then be used to individualize student learning.
Using the Student Data Profiles also supports our Strategic Planning goal
of using data to individualize instruction.
In my role as counselor, using these Profiles has helped in the facilitation
of Student Success Meetings. At our weekly meetings, grade level teams
use data to identify areas of concern and look for patterns across
curricular areas, which leads to conversations that are clear, concise and
solutions focused. Teachers appreciate that their time is valued and
feedback taken into consideration when making success plans for
students. All stakeholders leave meetings knowing the plan for success,
timelines, and who is responsible to follow up with parents.
