resourceful, provide scaffolding, design engaging activities and most
importantly, know your students. However, the application of these
principles have to change slightly to accommodate for the limitations of
a virtual platform. Our learnings may seem logical once they are read,
however it took an on-going cycle of feedback, detailed observations, and
many minor tweaks and changes to reach a point where we feel confident
of designing highly effective 30 minute lessons to teach English reading
skills twice a week to English Language Learners in government schools
across Mumbai. We hope these lessons are useful to others considering
using a virtual platform.
