Maximize opportunities for sharing Day 9 outcomes across the
school.
Include students in designing and developing Day 9 at ASB.
November 1, 2014
The Day 9 Planning Team created the second iteration using feedback
from the first prototype. The Day 9 Planning Team:
Made adjustments to the project planning process to ensure that
technology requests were accurate;
Adjusted the sign-up procedure to ensure accurate student data
collection;
Provided professional development around project-based
learning over the course of one PD day session and a part of a
faculty meeting;
The total number of projects offered was increased from 31 to
34; project choices for 3rd-5th grade students increased from 5
to 17 projects;
The sharing time was adjusted from one 20 minute block without
structure to three 20 minute rotations between assigned project
groups.
Information was gathered in order to understand how the second
iteration met the additional goals for improving the instructional program
and to inform the development of the next iteration of Day 9. From the
feedback, the goal of including students in designing and developing Day
9 at ASB remained a goal. Additionally, new goals of improving the
instructional program for the final iteration of the prototype were
established. These were:
Strengthen the morning transition and start-up.
Strengthen existing structures and projects for the Day 9
prototype.
Inquire if outside providers could be available to provide Day 9
projects.
