This year, the Elementary School has also integrated Design
Thinking into at least one unit in each grade level throughout the
year. This means teachers are applying Design Thinking to
everyday learning, and plan to expand further.
Studio 6, a Middle School initiative, is an opportunity for students
to choose between 11 design studios led by experts in the field
to engage in a 4 day design workshop. The elements of Studio 6
are project-based learning, cross-curricular learning, ASB
standards and benchmarks, making, design thinking, and 21st
century learning. These design studios incorporate the process of
design thinking as a method of action. You can read more about
Studio 6 here ( bit.ly/Studio6future).
Design Thinking is also experienced in a Maker Education class
offered in the Middle School. All MS students take this class at
least once each year, and projects are prototyped using Design
A student testing out his virtual reality prototype during the
Futuristic Tools design studio at Studio 6.
