93 Future Forwards: Exploring Frontiers in Education
• Students were undecided on whether standing in class allowed them
to concentrate easier or be more creative.
• Teachers, on the other hand, reported a significant difference in
student’s ability to focus, particularly during instructional time. The
students that they felt benefited the most were the 6th & 7th-grade
boys, who were able to fidget or shift their weight and continue to
listen, think and work without disturbing other students around them.
• The teachers mentioned they enjoyed the extra space in the classroom
created by removing the chairs, reporting that the additional space
allowed them to play with different desk groupings and configurations
with ease and making movement around the room much simpler for
both students and teachers.
