Towards the end of the quarter, all kids had the choice of presenting in one
of three ways: the first was a showcase where 12 kids would be presenting
to around 450 students, teachers, and parents; the second was a museum/
gallery format; and the third was to small audiences of approximately 20
people in a classroom.
SML Project Showcase.
The majority of our kids chose the museum format, but a fair number
chose to present to small audiences. Kids had to audition to be one of the
12 presenters to the all school group. One problem that we did run into
with the small audience presentations was that some of the audiences were
much smaller than the twenty we had predicted.
Moving into our second year with 400+ G7s and G8s, we have implemented
a few tweaks:
• We are running 10 sessions instead of 12.
• We are spending more early sessions with our academic core teachers
before going to our teacher facilitators in learn-alike groups.
